The improvement of the health of London created by the Mayor and the Council of London after the controversy over the Coalition’s plans to scrap the NHS London. The Mayor chairs the body, which is to take over strategic planning in health issues blighting the capital, including obesity.
It appears this year levels of obesity among children is higher than the national average in 30 of the 32 London boroughs. Mr. Johnson last year appealed to the Minister for health Andrew Lansley along borough leaders and the NHS for permission to set up the Council.
The body will now act to improve children’s health London through school programs, sporting activities and the development strategy of pan-London to reduce obesity.
It will also try to increase the number of London would for colon cancer screening. Mr. Johnson said: “an important health issue that we must prioritise is obesity, particularly among children, alcoholism and the consequences, and awareness of cancer.
During the economic tensions, it is more important than ever that we join in this unique partnership to achieve more. “
