Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) would set up a one-week ‘ women in sports ‘ Festival on the theme, “promoting of women and girls in football” from Saturday 17 to 24 December 2011. This was confirmed by Beatrice Allen, Vice President of the country’s highest sports body first, also a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) during the meeting with the members of the media Committee of the REGIONS on the Resource Center GNOC, along Highway Bertil Harding on Saturday.
This year’s festival will create awareness about the importance of mainstreaming of women and girls in football by demonstrating their talent hear them on how football has made an impact in their lives. This Program will cover a football game on the level of district, Regional and national, as well as schools in region 1.
The Festival will also include the forums one day sports and development, with particular focus on women and girls, will bring together sportspeople and sports organizations, women ‘s, girls ‘ sports veterans, sports administrators, policy makers, local government administrators, women’s Regional
The Forum will be taking stock of policy environment and football agree on ways to coordinate the sports program for the benefit of women and girls. The Festival will also see the forums for women’s coach and athlete on the challenges and opportunities in the promotion of women and girls in sports, as well as issuing recommendations on how the policy on training and development of GFA skills can have an impact on women and girls.
